Hello everybody!
Since I am in Italy now, I will switch to English on my blog in order to keep my American friends updated! ![]()
So…. where to start?
I am SO happy to be home, it’s been wonderful so far!
I had the most pleasant flight ever – all the planes were on time and from Detroit to Paris I had 4 seats for myself (a bed, pretty much): I just slept the whole way through the ocean and I woke up in France, rested and happy. When I landed in Verona, I was so impatient to see my parents: they were waiting for me outside tha baggage claim, and we just ran into each other arms screaming and crying (mom did).
Other positive note: I met 3 nice old Scottish men on the plane, they were extremely funny except the accent!
Once we got home, mom prepared some prosciutto e melone and I instantly remembered why I cannot be a vegetarian in Italy…. Then Tommaso – my neighbor – came to visit and went out to get a gelato… wow is all I can say. Then, for dinner, we went to a pizzeria and got a pizza with prosciutto, grilled zucchini, stracchino cheese and mozzarella di bufala. Oh, Lord. That was a bite of Heaven.
Nothing on Earth can beat Italian food… really. I am not sure how I will deal with Hounddog’s pizza from now on…
Thursday night at Giovanni and Antonella’s house: I met their new kitty Nana and their ferret Medea – which tried to bite off my toe nails =.=
Chit chat, quietly pleasant: I have missed this, so much. Good friends, cigarettes and wine. Paradise.
Saturday, the jetlag kicks in: I slept until 1 pm, got up and ate some veggie made by mom.
Lazy afternoon, visit to grandpa and then to the swimming pool with mom at 5: we chatted, swam a bit and sun tanned – good times. Then I sent out a collective message to my salsa friends to greet them all at once, and got 5 invites and 10 text messages back in 20 minutes. That made me happy – I guess staying away 8 months help my friends to be quick to answer ha
After the pool, dinner at 8 (piadina… *drool*) and then out with my girls: Marta, Elisabetta and Elisabetta!
I forgot how much I have missed these girls, we had a fantastic time in Manerbio – yes yes we went dancing, and I did dance a lot!!
Here is a pic of us!
From left to right, Betta, me, Marta and Betty
Unfortunately my favorite dancers weren’t there, therefore I had to dance on 1. I did find some great people though, and had a lot of fun with my broken Italian – I kept saying “I am sorry”, “Excuse me” and “Thank you” and they would all laugh!
Around 2 am we decided to go home, stopped on the highway on a bar and had some breakfast – cappuccino and croissant just made…. God I love Italy
Tomorrow eye doctor , at Marta’s for manicure and toe nails (I will post pics after they’re all pretty and done), some more sleep and then either Ferrara or Piacenza – salsa dura night!! ![]()
That means coming back at 5, with breakfast before going home – can’t wait!
Hopefully I will meet some of my fav dancers too ^__^
Good night everyone!
