Confusion.
I love this country, I love my hometown Verona.
Every time I come back here I question my decision of living in the US.
If only I could have the job I want in Italy…
I love people here, too. I do have good friends around the world, and people I care about, but this is where I am from. It is just different.
I guess it’s only a moment of confusion.
A little breach in my strong-willed idea of future, a flow of feelings that cannot be fought with reason.
And I guess it will pass.
I am reading “La Variante di Lüneburg”, book by Paolo Maurensig. I have read “Canone Inverso” of the same author – great book.
This one is about a Jew, a Nazi officer and a deadly chess game that continues through the years. I would like to thank Daniele for giving me this book as a (precious) gift.
Daniele and I went out last night, to the lake: as usual, he showed up at my house 5 minutes early and as usual I made him wait.
As usual, when I asked where we could go, he had already thought of a place, checked if it was open and almost reserved a table. As usual, he opened the door of the car for me.
Daniele is such a gentleman, a rarity nowadays – especially because his great manners are not fake or meant to impress, he is just like that. And I find that refreshing, and fascinating.
We had a great pizza in Lazise, on the Garda Lake. Then we went for a walk on the lake shore (more like a line of bars and restaurants , with some nice quiet areas in between where people can sit, walk, chat) and we sat down and chatted. After a while we looked at our watches – 2.30 am!
Pretty amazing how time flies away when you’re in good company.
We went back to the car and came home – it was great to feel such a connection after so many months, and this morning I woke up with an unique serenity.
Today I went shopping with mom in the morning – I bought some books, a pair of pretty, white sandals and a bathing suit (a very vintage one!). Then dentist – no comment on that.
Tonight I will go to visit Piero before he leaves for Florida =.=
Tomorrow “busy” day! Optician, visits to some old friends all afternoon and evening!
More to come!
